Sean Longstaff’s Leeds United assessment highlights confidence within camp ahead of Burnley test

October 17, 2025

Leeds United midfielder Sean Longstaff believes the club should be sitting higher up the table and further away from the danger zone ahead of their meeting with fellow promoted side Burnley.

Admittedly pleased with the start his new club has made to their return to the Premier League, as well as his own personal start to life in Leeds after leaving Newcastle United this summer, Longstaff is full of positives right now.

While that may be the case, there’s a feeling of what could have been after losing at home to Tottenham Hotspur last time out, as well as home draws against Bournemouth and Newcastle United, plus a last-gasp defeat at Fulham.

Sat 15th in the league table and four points ahead of Burnley in 18th, Leeds have a good platform to build from as the season restarts this weekend, but Longstaff is aware the fine margins which make a difference could have seen the Whites even higher in the standings right now.

“I think it’s been really positive,” Longstaff told Premier League Productions ahead of the game at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
