Lindstrøm’s move to Schalke from Napoli at risk of collapse
Jesper Lindstrøm looked set to join Schalke 04 on loan from Napoli, but late complications have put the move in doubt.
FC Schalke 04’s proposed move for SSC Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrøm is in danger of collapsing at the final hurdle, according to Bild.
The two clubs appeared to have reached an agreement, and the Danish winger reportedly even completed his medical over the weekend.
However, the deal is now at risk of falling through, with Bild reporting that Schalke are frustrated with Napoli, who have allegedly failed to honour verbal agreements and made promises that were later withdrawn.
The main issue is understood to be the structure of the deal, with Schalke wanting an option to buy and Napoli insisting on a mandatory purchase clause, which the Bundesliga club are unwilling to accept.
Unless an agreement is reached, Lindstrøm’s move to Gelsenkirchen will fall through and the winger will return to Italy.
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Facundo Buonanotte has been mentioned as a possible alternative to Lindstrøm.
