Evangelos Marinakis sent £100m transfer message as Nottingham Forest eye deals
Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Steve Cooper’s Reds face key summer window ahead of Premier League season
Nottingham Forest’s shopping spree is yet to get going amid what is an important transfer window at the City Ground.
As soon as Premier League safety had been secured, head coach Steve Cooper underlined the need for the club to build on that platform. Strengthening the squad ahead of the 2023/24 season forms an important part of that.
The Reds are yet to bring in any new recruits, but additions are being targeted in a number of areas. And it seems fans are eager for owner Evangelos Marinakis to start splashing the cash.
The outlay is unlikely to be on the same scale as last year, when 22 signings were made in preparation for the return to the top-flight. Cooper has already said he expects “more normal” numbers this time around, while Forest will also have FFP in mind as they aim to do smart business.
However, supporters believe a significant sum will still need to be spent in order for the Reds to kick on. As part of our Forest Big Forum Survey, NottinghamshireLive asked fans how much needs to be spent on signings this summer – and the results are very interesting.
From more than 3,000 responses, the majority (39 percent) felt between £75-100 million will need to go towards bolstering the squad. Meanwhile, 30 percent of fans saw £50-75m as being the right amount to spend on new recruits.
