Bournemouth are now keen to sign £32m Tottenham player after losing to them last weekend

January 3, 2024

Bournemouth are one of the teams interested in signing Sergio Reguilon, with the left-back returning to Tottenham Hotspur after spending the first-half of the season out on loan.

Sergio Reguilon struggled for game-time during his surprise spell at Manchester United. So it is not entirely shocking that The Times is now reporting that he has returned to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month.

But it seems that the 27-year-old will remain out of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

Bournemouth now interested in signing Sergio Reguilon
According to a report from The Times, Tottenham will look to sell Reguilon or loan him out again for the rest of the campaign. And there are a number of sides keen on the left-back, with Bournemouth, Sevilla and Villarreal all interested. Previously, it has been suggested that Borussia Dortmund want Reguilon.

It is not clear whether the trio would be open to a permanent deal. But it would be a big boost to Tottenham’s plans if they were able to find a buyer for the Spaniard this month.

Tottenham should be open to sending left-back to another Premier League rival
Andoni Iraola’s side have been one of the standout teams in the Premier League over the last couple of months. Their 3-1 loss to Tottenham at the weekend was their first defeat since the start of November. The Cherries won six of the seven games in between.

So that would be an exciting move for Reguilon. Bournemouth play some brilliant football under Iraola. And with both Milos Kerkez and Lloyd Kelly out injured right now, there is an opportunity for a player to come into that side.

If Tottenham do loan him out, they need to send him somewhere where he is going to play. Ultimately, the goal has to be to recoup as much of the £32 million fee they paid as possible.

Neither Villarreal or Sevilla are having the best season right now, with the latter just a handful of points above the relegation zone.

So while a return to Spain may appeal to Reguilon, Tottenham have to think about whether he is going to be able to thrive at either club coming in midway through the season.
