Bayern Munich under fire! Another Bundesliga club slams Bavarians for ref complaints

March 17, 2026

Union Berlin managing director Horst Heldt did not hold back in criticizing Bayern Munich for its public complaining about the performance of the referees during the Rekordmeister’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend.

The Bavarians were handed two red cards and had two goals disallowed, which drew the ire of quite a few players and club luminaries.

“This is simply out of order with regard to the other teams, such a scale of it. And we are the ones suffering. We will be the ones suffering next week. And that’s unacceptable. It simply carries a different weight when Bayern Munich publicly addresses such topics. There are always situations where clubs get somewhat upset about decisions. I don’t exclude myself from that either. But what’s happening right now is incomparable. The next refereeing team at the next match, good luck with that. Bayern have done so many things right in recent years, which is why they’re where they are. But they also have to live up to their responsibilities from time to time,” Heldt told Sky.

Well, Saturday’s game between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin just got a little more interesting!
