Bayern Munich pushing to renew prolific Barcelona target’s contract

March 1, 2026

Harry Kane has found his name constantly mentioned in the Barcelona media in recent times, especially after his name appeared on the manifesto of one of the club’s presidential pre-candidates.

Indeed, Xavi Vilajoana, who is competing against Joan Laporta in the elections this month, insisted that his team had contacted the English striker’s entourage over a deal to bring him to Catalonia.

The player, however, openly denied any such development in a recent interview and insisted that he was happy playing in Germany for Bayern Munich.

Keen to work together

Now, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano in a recent report, Bayern Munich are insisting on getting a new deal done for Kane in the coming days after finalising the renewal of Real Madrid target Dayot Upamecano.

They see the striker as a crucial part of their project and do not contemplate a situation where they part ways at this point.

Bayern Munich want Kane to stay and are already in talks with his entourage.

The financial and personal factors will be the ones that drive the deal, and the Bavarians are already working on discussing both terms with Kane’s close circle so as to reach a complete agreement soon.

While Barcelona do indeed see Kane to be the right profile to replace Robert Lewandowski next season, his current situation and Bayern Munich’s success across competitions mean that a departure is complicated, if not impossible.

The centre-forward, after all, has scored a staggering 30 goals in just 24 league games for the German giants and is in stunning form. To change clubs at this point would appear unlikely.

Barcelona, for their part, must thus work to identify alternative targets as the centre-forward position is indeed in need of fresh feet.
