BORUSSIA DORTMUND HIJACKED RAYAN CHERKI’S €15M MOVE TO PSG
Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund are set to sign want-away Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki (20) after hijacking his move to PSG, according to a report this Sunday from L’Equipe. Earlier this afternoon, Foot Mercato had reported that the 2024 Champions League runners-up were leading the race to sign the Lyon-born 20-year-old playmaker.
Rayan Cherki, who is currently on international duty with Thierry Henry’s France Olympic football team, is expected to leave his formative club this summer. The attacking midfielder remains tied with Olympique Lyonnais with a contract set to expire in 2025. Les Gones have submitted Rayan Charki a three-year renewal, but on reduced terms. As revealed by Get French Football News, Rayan Cherki will not sign a new deal, paving the way for a departure.
According to L’Equipe, Lyon and PSG have agreed upon a €15m transfer fee on Saturday for Rayan Cherki’s move from the Groupama Stadium to the Parc des Princes. The Lyon academy product even green-lit the move after exchanging with PSG Sporting advisor Luis Campos and head coach Luis Enrique. However, despite offering him reduced terms compared to PSG’s, Borussia Dortmund seem to have hijacked Rayan Cherki’s move after matching the Ligue 1 champions’ bid. The outlet adds that Rayan Cherki and Borussia Dortmund were in contact for a long time.
