Pioli has two players per position in attack – now he must rotate effectively

September 4, 2023

One of AC Milan’s big problems last year was that the back-up options to the starters never proved to be up to par, especially in attack.

When there is a tight schedule and games are played every three days it became quite a headache for Stefano Pioli, who quite clearly only trusted the same group of 12-13 players, and mass rotation cost points.

One of the missions of the 2023 summer window was to add depth to Milan’s squad, and as Tuttosport reported this morning (via MilanNews), it has been achieved thanks to the work of the Rossoneri management.

It is especially the case in attack where there are now alternatives that are up to par. On the right side there has been a major upgrade with the farewells of Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers and the arrivals of Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic.

The latter, among other things, can also be used in other roles in attack, namely on the left and also as an attacking midfielder. Luka Romero must also be added to the American and the Nigerian, after an impressive season.

The centre-forward position is made up of Olivier Giroud and the last summer arrival Luka Jovic, but Noah Okafor can also easily be used in this position, who starts as the first alternative on the left to Rafael Leao.

Therefore, the Rossoneri now have two players per position, as requested by Pioli at the start of the transfer window. Now it will be up to the Rossoneri coach to make the most of the players he has been given, and to rotate effectively.
