Barcelona target will move to Saudi Arabia according to FIFA agent: “Can’t take over his salary”
Marco Kirdemir, who happens to be a FIFA agent, told Radio MARCA that Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix will not sign for Barcelona as he will end up in Saudi Arabia before the end of the transfer market.
The agent mentions that at this moment, Barcelona just cannot take charge of his salary as three players are already unregistered in the league.
Apart from that, the potential arrival of Joao Cancelo will only complicate matters for the team.
Furthermore, after trying everything possible for his client to move to Barcelona, Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes is now ready to take him to the Middle East as no concrete offers from Europe are catching his attention.
“He will go to Saudi Arabia. Barça can’t take over his salary. Mendes is willing to take him there. No one in Europe wants him,” Kirdemir said.
Barcelona’s limitations
It is no secret that Barcelona have been undergoing financial challenges, a situation exacerbated by the economic strain caused by the global pandemic.
Felix’s salary demands appear to be beyond the scope of the Catalan club’s budget. However, even if the Portuguese is willing to lower to his token, it will take a big effort from the club to get him on the roster.
Enter Mendes, who seems to be eyeing Saudi Arabia as a potential destination for Felix, where lucrative contracts and an opportunity to spearhead a football revolution await.
Disagreement over Felix’s deal
Now, although Barcelona president Joan Laporta has always spoken highly of Felix, Xavi seems to be not agreeing with the main man.
In fact, as reported before, the manager and sporting director Deco are not in favour of this deal.
After Ousmane Dembele’s move to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona were expected to sign a replacement, but looking at the strength and the numbers in attack, the team from Catalonia has decided not to.
Above all, Atletico’s negotiation stance is uncertain, and with Cancelo’s arrival, Barça’s chances of securing Felix appear bleak.
