ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC’S ALLEGED MILAN ROLE CLARIFIED

An insight into the responsibilities expected to be placed upon the shoulders of Zlatan Ibrahimovic upon his return to AC Milan has been provided on Friday afternoon.

The name of iconic frontman Ibrahimovic has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of the Milan divide across the week to date. This comes after claims were forthcoming in the media, pointing towards the Swede inching towards a return to Milanello.

Ibrahimovic called time on his playing career earlier this year, in the colours of his beloved Diavolo.Keen to continue contributing beyond the pitch, however, it is understood that negotiations are now underway between the 42-year-old and Milan, over a new role behind the scenes.

And, on Friday, an insight into what this position is likely to entail has been forthcoming.

As per a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic is primed to act as something of a link between Stefano Pioli’s squad, and the club’s board – a role most recently filled by Paolo Maldini.

Unlike Maldini, however, the ex-striker is not expected to have any say when it comes to transfer business.

Nevertheless, Ibrahimovic is determined to be viewed as more than a symbolic figure, ready to make a real difference at San Siro. He will also be tasked with media duties on occasion.
