WHY PSG WILL BE HAPPY WITH THE REFEREE APPOINTMENT FOR BARCELONA CLASH
The refereeing appointment for the upcoming Champions League meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona will no doubt be considered a positive omen by all associated with the former.
This comes owing to the record boasted by PSG in fixtures overseen by the official in question.
As confirmed on Monday evening, Anthony Taylor is set to run the rule over the quarter-final first leg meeting between the French and Spanish champions at the Parc des Princes.
The affair is tipped to be a feisty one, with the former still scarred by the famed ‘Remontada’ enjoyed at their expense back in 2017, and PSG’s fans having made use of recent days to take firm aim at Barcelona as an institution.
Safe to say, then, that Taylor will have his work cut out for him on Wednesday night.
And yet, as alluded to above, all associated with the hosts-in-waiting will no doubt be encouraged by a statistic to have come to light on Monday.
As per Diario AS, to date, Englishman Taylor has taken charge of six fixtures involving PSG.
And the capital club have emerged triumphant from five, alongside a draw in the other.
This includes downings of the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund.
Barcelona, on the other hand, have managed just a solitary victory from their four European outings assigned to Wednesday night’s referee.
