What Pochettino said to Caicedo as Gallagher causes Stamford Bridge uproar in Chelsea victory

January 14, 2024

Moments missed from Chelsea’s narrow victory over Fulham in the Premier League as Cole Palmer scores from the penalty spot in the first-half to earn all three points

Cole Palmer scored his ninth Premier League goal of the season to help Chelsea earn all three points against Fulham. The Blues have now won three on the bounce in the league as they massively improved on Tuesday night’s defeat at Middlesbrough.

Chelsea actually had an element of control at Stamford Bridge, unlike previous games where opponents have been able to counter-attack them. Mauricio Pochettino seemed quite satisfied with what he saw from his team, although revealed that something happened pre-match that affected his players somewhat in SW6.

The first-half wasn’t the first-half we planned,” Pochettino told reporters after the game. “Something happened before the game that I cannot explain. I think that affected the team a little bit. We started the second-half really good.

“I think we played really good football for 30 minutes and should score another goal or one or two and kill the game. When the game is open like this and you don’t kill the game, always in the last minutes we concede a few actions, set-pieces and wide free-kicks and they have good potential in those situations.”

As Pochettino mentioned, there was a little spell at pressure from Fulham towards the end of the game, but Chelsea stood firm. With that being said, football.london takes a look at a couple of moments you may have missed from Stamford Bridge.
