What Gian Piero Gasperini said about Celtic after Atalanta’s latest Serie A result

October 21, 2024

Celtic’s focus is now on the Champions League with a tough away test to Serie A side Atalanta beckoning this week.

Brendan Rodgers takes his team to Italy where the Hoops have beaten Serie A opposition just once in their entire history.

The Parkhead boss will be hoping to make another Champions League memory for the Celtic fans with a win against Atalanta but it will be tough for Rodgers, especially after the Italian club’s latest league result.

Gasperini warns Atalanta about ‘fast’ Celtic
Atalanta beat Venezia 2-0 this weekend as Gian Piero Gasperini’s team continues their good start to their season.

Speaking post-match, the Bergamo boss spoke about Celtic as he listed a number of players who were struggling to make the away win at the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo.

Gasperini told Fantacalcio, “Instead of recovering players during the break we ended up losing others, today we will also evaluate Hien, after Kolasinac’s flu.

“Hien didn’t feel like playing anymore, he had the flu. It was a game that could have been more risky, but we scored straight away. Venezia had a little more energy, but we were attentive and compact. You have to play every game, no result is a given.

“With Celtic, well, it’s a different competition, we’re facing a team used to winning championships, a fast team, especially in attack. We’ll be careful with Ederson, he had a toothache, and today he played in pain”.
