West Ham must walk away now as club reportedly demand £25 million for 26-yo striker in summer transfer window

June 1, 2023

West Ham must walk away now as club reportedly demand £25 million for 26-year-old striker in the summer transfer window.

The upcoming summer transfer window will be a vitally important one for West Ham manager David Moyes, with many outgoings and incomings expected at the London Stadium.

First order of business will be beating Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final in six day’s time. However, once that’s out the way, Moyes’s attention will undoubtedly turn to transfers.

One of the main priorities for Hammers boss Moyes will be to sign a centre-forward, with Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings seemingly unsuited to the Scot’s system.

Boulaye Dia is one man who has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium over the past couple of years – most recently just last month.

However, this now seems like a deal that the Hammers need to walk way from…

West Ham must walk away from 26-year-old striker deal in summer transfer window
According to Corriere dello Sport (print edition May 31st, page 22), Salernitana are looking to activate their purchase option on Boulaye Dia, before selling him on for a huge profit.

The Italian side are said to be looking for around €30 million (£25 million) for the 26-year-old.

Now, the Senegalese hitman is a decent striker. He’s similar to Michail Antonio in the way that he plays. He is powerful, has decent pace and is a pretty good finisher.

However, Dia is worth nowhere near £25 million in my book, especially considering the fact that he is a totally unproven commodity in the Premier League.

West Ham could and should be aiming for a lot better than Boulaye Dia in the summer transfer window in my opinion.

Listen, I actually wouldn’t mind if we signed him for somewhere in the region of £12-15 million, but £25 million is just too much money.

Moyes would be better served in trying to get the best out of Scamacca and setting up his team in a way that would see the Italian flourish.
