Wesley Fofana says Chelsea player is even faster than Kylian Mbappe

March 16, 2023

Wesley Fofana thinks Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk is definitely faster than Kylian Mbappe.

Mudryk, 22, arrived at Stamford Bridge in January with a reputation for being a lightning-quick attacker.

The Ukraine international has shown in some moments his express pace.

Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock recently explained that the Chelsea winger doesn’t even look like he’s trying when he’s sprinting.

However, can he claim to be the fastest footballer in the world right now?

Paris Saint-Germain and France star Mbappe, 24, has proven in recent years he’ll beat most in a foot race.

However, Chelsea defender Fofana thinks his club teammate is faster.

When discussing Mudryk on Chelsea’s official YouTube account, Fofana said, “He’s so quick.”

The Blues defender was then asked if he’s the fastest he’s played against: His response: “Yes, of course!”

When Mbappe’s name was mentioned, Fofana said, “No chance.”

Mudryk does look impossible to catch when he breaks the lines behind a defence, so Chelsea need to get him in that scenario as often as possible.

Graham Potter is definitely still learning about the youngster as a player. In fact, he used him in both central and wide attacking roles in the weekend victory against Leicester City.

The beauty is you can’t teach the kind of pace at Mudryk’s disposal. Potter’s job is now to get the best out of it.

In fairness, he’s not the only rapid player within the Chelsea squad right now.

We would like to see a race between the likes of Mudryk, Raheem Sterling and Armando Broja.
