Vlahovic, Pogba and three others miss Juventus training: Yildiz shines

July 23, 2023

Romelu Lukaku has broken his silence at the end of a dramatic week in which the back pages of the main Italian newspapers have extensively discussed his future and fall-out with Inter Milan.

Lukaku published a controversial message on his Instagram story that said: ‘When hate doesn’t work, they start telling lies’.

Belgium’s record goalscorer, having pledged his commitment to Inter – where he has had two spells – subsequently then started to listen to offers from rivals Juventus.

Any move to Juventus is dependent on the sale of Dusan Vlahovic who has been linked with both PSG and Chelsea.

But that situation is currently stagnant and Gazzetta dello Sport report Lukaku is keen to apologise and now does want to return to Inter.

However, Simone Inzaghi’s side have given up on bringing him in and the Old Lady are the only team interested, along with Saudi Pro League clubs.

Vlahovic is currently on the club’s US tour but any imminent departure for the Serbian forward seems to have cooled in recent days.

Lukaku is keen to remain in Europe rather than follow several stars in moving to Saudi Arabia, which puts Juventus in the driving seat for any transfer if they are to follow up their interest.

However, as mentioned, any move is dependent on Vlahovic’s departure meaning Lukaku has since returned to London to his parent club Chelsea, although he has not joined Mauricio Pochettino’s side on their pre-season tour.

Vlahovic is said to be relaxed about his future with the 23-year-old not pining for a move way form the club.

A major stumbling block with the move is that Juventus’ supporters do not want the Belgian forward.

When their international players returned for pre-season last week, they sang anti-Lukaku songs.

This is mainly because the rivalry between Inter and Juventus means they do not want to sign someone who is so popular with the Nerazzurri.

However, there is also the fact that Lukaku has clashed with Juventus players and supporters during games against them in recent years.

As a result, he is unlikely to be welcomed by supporters if he does eventually complete a move to the club.
