Tuttosport: Leao unlikely to be risked against Empoli as opportunity arises for Rebic
Rafael Leao is not at 100% and he is likely to get a rest for tonight’s game against Empoli at San Siro, according to a report.
After being one of the big protagonists of Sunday’s 4-0 win against Napoli, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) are reporting that Leao has not been in the best condition during training this week and he only did a session with the rest of the group yesterday.
The importance of the Portuguese winger is well known and that is why Stefano Pioli does not want to risk anything in view of the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
If he is not back to full fitness today then Ante Rebic will start instead, and he will have to give some positive signs after a season with few ups and many downs.
Leao should be back at the latest for the first leg against Napoli and the former Lille man hopes to score at San Siro after almost five months, given his last home goal was on 13 November 2022 against Fiorentina.
