Todd Boehly can’t get enough of Dortmund’s yellow wall – but it’s ‘not for sale’
Todd Boehly’s been splashing the cash since taking over at Chelsea – but fans have let him know he won’t be able to buy Borussia Dortmund’s yellow wall after the American was spotted ogling it
Todd Boehly was in awe of Borussia Dortmund’s infamous yellow wall but he was jokingly told it’s not for sale by fans.
Chelsea were lining up to face Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park Stadium in their Champions League second-round clash on Wednesday night. And as the two sides geared up for the spectacle, the Bundesliga side’s rapturous fans made their presence felt in the formidable south stand that’s known to strike fear in the hearts of opponents.
And as the sea of yellow shirts, scarves, and Dortmund flags comprised of almost 25,000 fans passionately sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, an enthralled Boehly made sure he captured the spine-tingling moment on his phone.
However, the American’s reaction prompted supporters to remind him that the wall isn’t something he can acquire with his billions, in reference to the Chelsea owner’s recent spending blitz in January’s transfer window.
One fan remarked under the clip shared by CBS: “No Todd Boehly, you can’t buy those supporters.” Then another quipped: “The latest rumors announce that he plans to buy the Yellow Wall next July.”
A third user got in on the jibes and scoffed: “It’s not for sale,” with a crying face emoji. And a fourth supporter goaded Boehly by adding: “Breaking News: Todd Boehly put 100m bid to buy Yellow Wall of Dortmund.”
