Three ways Arsenal can line-up vs Burnley as Mikel Arteta makes Bukayo Saka injury decision
Arsenal host Burnley to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hoping to secure all three points despite a number of injury problems
Wednesday night saw Arsenal get back to winning ways following back-to-back losses against Newcastle United and West Ham. The north London outfit defeated Sevilla 2-0 in a dominant UEFA Champions League display that saw Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka find the back of the net either side of half-time.
But it wasn’t all positive news for the Gunners midweek as Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu both picked up knocks against the reigning Europa League champions. Speaking ahead of the game against Burnley, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta revealed that Saka is yet to return to training and will be assessed in the next 24 hours to see if he can be passed fit.
“We want our players to play for their club and national team,” Arteta said after the Hale End graduate was selected for England duty ahead of the November international break. “B [Saka] didn’t train yesterday. Let’s see if he can make it tomorrow.”
Arteta has plenty of other injuries throughout his squad, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe and Jurrien Timber all long-term absentees. Eddie Nketiah and Martin Odegaard also remain fitness doubts ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League outing against Burnley.
The Clarets have struggled since gaining promotion to the English top-flight last season, currently languishing down in 19th. Ahead of today’s match, football.london has taken a look at three potential ways the north Londoners could line up for the match at the Emirates Stadium.
