THE INJURY CRISIS CONTINUES AT RB LEIPZIG
Despite tasting defeat on matchday one to an inspiring Bayer Leverkusen side, RB Leipzig would bounce back with two impressive victories to send out a statement to the rest of the Bundesliga. Nevertheless, the international break has potentially derailed the title ambitions of Die Roten Bullen.
An injury to Leipzig’s star player Dani Olmo will see the Spaniard sidelined for the next few games, and the race is on for Olmo to be fit for the crucial game against Bayern Munich at the end of the month. However, what is for certain, is that the side from Saxony will be without captain Willi Orbán for the Bayern game and for the foreseeable future.
Leipzig have confirmed that Orbán sustained a torn ligament in his right knee during a game against the Czech Republic on Sunday. Whether the Hungarian will undergo surgery will be decided over the coming days.
There is hope within the Leipzig camp that Orbán will make a recovery before the end of the Hinrunde, but his absence will still be a significant blow for Rose. Nevertheless, it will offer an opportunity for Castello Lukeba and Lukas Klostermann to step up in the absence of their on-field leader.
