The case for Konrad Laimer: Bayern Munich should just pay the Austrian what he wants and save everyone the trouble
Bayern Munich is slowly going through all of the pending contract extensions, and some of the big names left to get a new deal are Manuel Neuer, Harry Kane, and Konrad Laimer. The Bavarians are apparently having a difficult time reaching an agreement with the lattermost, who is reportedly asking for almost double his current pay.
If I were Bayern, I’d just shut up and let Konny take my money. The Austrian is the best right-back that the club has had since Joshua Kimmich, who has since moved to midfield. The former RB Leipzig man can run for days and days and days and is in his prime (he is currently 28-years-old) which means he’s got lots left in the tank. His absence is also felt during his injury layoff and the time where he got suspended.
Where Laimer suceeded, Bouna Sarr and Sacha Boey fell. Benjamin Pavard to a lesser extent as well. As for the GOAT Alvaro Odriozola, it’s such a shame that he’s not here anymore.
Bayern will be releasing some players in the summer so Laimer’s asking price should be met. The club wanted to cut down on the wage bill but they played themselves by extending Serge Gnabry. It is what it is.
