Szczesny jokes about Juventus’ strategy against Fiorentina

November 6, 2023

Wojciech Szczesny jokes about Juventus‘ strategy against Fiorentina: ‘We had difficult moments, for circa 89 minutes.’

Juventus scored a goal with three shots on target on Sunday, securing a 1-0 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi.

“We are happy about the victory, but it’s too early to look at the table,” Szczesny told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“We are doing well and bringing some good results home. We won difficult games in Milan and Florence.”

The Bianconeri are now just two points below table leaders Inter and five clear of Atalanta, the fifth-placed team in the league. Szczesny seemed in a good mood following Juventus’ victory in Florence.

“Hopefully, we won’t be docked 10 points like last season, it’s a step forward,” he said smiling.

“We are in a better position than last season, but honestly, I don’t even know how many points we have. We must go one step at a time and prepare for the next game against Cagliari.”

The Poland international has not conceded in the last six matches, while Juventus have the less-beaten defence in the league with just six goals conceded, as many as Inter.

“There is a nice atmosphere with many young players,” continued Szczesny.

“Nobody feels more important than the others and a lot of players have room for improvement. The team’s unity is crucial. We had difficult moments tonight, for circa 89 minutes, but we are happy because it’s never easy to win in Florence.”

Juventus have two consecutive Serie A games coming up, the first one against Cagliari this coming Saturday and the second against Inter on November 26, right after the International break in November.

Szczesny joined Juventus from Arsenal in an €18m deal in 2017 and has played 226 games for the Old Lady. He has kept seven clean sheets in nine Serie A games so far this season, conceding five times.
