Steven Gerrard could now be set for a sensational return to management with Paris Saint-Germain

February 22, 2023

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard could now be set for a surprising return to management as French giants Paris Saint-Germain have discussed the former Aston Villa boss.

That’s according to Scottish Daily Express Sport, who claim the Ligue 1 leaders are interested in the former Rangers manager, as he is seen as a major high-profile figure who could enhance them next season.

The PSG hierarchy are becoming increasingly frustrated with Christophe Galtier, despite his team holding a five-point lead at the top of the table.

The side were knocked out of the French Cup by Marseille and they also head into the second leg of their Champions League tie 1-0 down to Bayern Munich.

Gerrard touted for PSG job
Since retiring as a professional, Gerrard has long been linked with the Liverpool managerial job.

In 2017, he became the U18’s manager at Kirkby, as he looked to delve into a coaching career – rather than focusing on his work as a pundit.

He subsequently took the job at Ibrox, where he went on to win the Premiership title with Rangers for the first time in ten years.

Leaving after two-and-a-half years in Scotland, Gerrard made the switch to the Premier League, signing with Aston Villa.

However, his career in the Midlands didn’t go as planned, and he was sacked after just 11 months as the Villains only won two out of 12 league games at the start of this season.

Since then, the Anfield legend hasn’t seemed further away of being lined up for the Liverpool role.

Therefore, these links with PSG have seemingly come out of nowhere.

However, if he makes the move and proves successful in the French capital, there’s no reason to suggest Gerrard couldn’t one day return to Merseyside.
