Steve Sidwell says ’there’s no way’ 27-year-old player will join Arsenal in January
Steve Sidwell has given his verdict on whether or not Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could be able to sign Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.
Peter Crouch has also shared his opinion on whether Toney could play in an Arsenal shirt for the second half of the season and beyond.
So, what has been said about Arsenal target Ivan Toney? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal linked with Ivan Toney
Well, Arsenal have been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.
On December 30, The Independent reported that the Gunners want to sign Toney. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta personally wants to bring the 27-year-old striker to the Emirates Stadium in the middle of the season.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Toney, who has been tipped by one pundit to move to Liverpool.
Steve Sidwell and Peter Crouch verdicts
Pundits Steve Sidwell and Peter Crouch have had their say on whether or not Arsenal could be able to sign Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Crouch has noted that Arsenal need a striker in the January transfer window and could try to sign him.
Ex-Chelsea player Sidwell, though, does not think that Brentford will sell the England international to Arsenal or any other club for the matter in the middle of the season.
Crouch said on That Peter Crouch Podcast: “The worst thing is that it’s January. He’s back now. But already it’s January, so he could come back into the fold and Arsenal need a striker…”
Sidwell responded: “There’s no way he’s going. Brentford cannot sell him. I’ve covered a couple of their games and they have been poor.”
