Southampton FC plan to allow Gavin Bazunu to leave on loan

MANAGER Ivan Juric revealed Saints plan to allow Gavin Bazunu to depart on loan this month following his recovery from a long-term injury.
Republic of Ireland international Bazunu is back to full fitness after rupturing his Achilleas tendon ahead of a Championship fixture against Preston in April 2024.
Bazunu, who turns 23 next month, made his return between the sticks for the under-21s in a 5-0 victory over Premier League 2 title-chasers Fulham earlier this month.
Juric and his backroom staff were in attendance at Snows Stadium and coach Dean Thornton was in communication with the shot-stopper at half-time.
The Croatian coach has dubbed the former Manchester City prospect an “incredible goalkeeper” but his entry into the first team is blocked at present.
Bazunu is not currently registered in the Premier League squad having been left out by former boss Russell Martin due to his long-term injury.
Southampton can adjust their squad this month to account for Bazunu but already have three goalkeepers registered – Aaron Ramsdale, Alex McCarthy and Joe Lumley.
“I think that the idea of the club is to give him a loan after his injury,” Juric told the Daily Echo. “I think he’s a great goalkeeper and now we will see in these seven days what will happen.”
