Skriniar after PSG arrival: ‘Last few months weren’t easy’

July 6, 2023

Milan Skriniar gave his first interview as a Paris Saint-Germain player, reflecting on his last few months at Inter and decision to leave on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old Slovakian centre back left the Nerazzurri on a free transfer last week, ending a six-year spell, in order to join up with PSG, penning a lucrative five-year deal.

Skriniar did not appear in the final four months of the season for Inter, sidelined with a back injury that ruled him out of over 20 matches, including the Champions League final.

Speaking to PSG’s media department, Skriniar first discussed his last few months and the toll of the back injury.

“The last few months were not easy for me, I was injured, I had a back problem but now I feel really good. I played two matches with Slovakia, so I am ready. I haven’t stopped training since the injury, so I am 100%, maybe even more.”

He highlighted how easy of a decision it was to join the Ligue 1 giants.

“When a club like Paris Saint-Germain wants to sign you, you have to make a decision quickly. I know they’re one of the best teams in the world, it only took a second.”

Finally, Skriniar commented on the pressures associated with playing for PSG.

“There is always pressure when you arrive at a club like Paris Saint-Germain. I feel it a little bit, but I feel ready, ready to be part of this great club. I like the pressure, I always try to be ready.”

During his six years at Inter, Skriniar made 246 appearances across all competitions, helping the side win a Scudetto and two Coppa Italia titles.
