SECOND Celtic Champions League rivals sack manager

October 13, 2024

Young Boys have become the second of Celtic’s Champions League opponents to sack their manager.

The Swiss champions parted company with Patrick Rahmen on Tuesday after just five months in charge.

It has been a dismal start to the season for the Swiss side, with the club sitting bottom of the league having won just one of their opening nine games.

Under-21 boss Joel Magnin has taken interim charge.

Young Boys – who visit Celtic Park on January 22 – have also suffered a poor start to their European campaign, losing 3-0 at home to Aston Villa on matchday one before going down 5-0 to Barcelona last week.

They are the second of Celtic’s UCL opponents to dismiss their manager early in the season.

Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb – who host Celtic on December 10– parted ways with their head coach last month.

Sergej Jakirovic was sacked two days after the club lost 9-2 against Bayern Munich in their Champions League opener.
