Sebastien Haller delighted after scoring brace for Borussia Dortmund against Köln

March 19, 2023

Sebastien Haller has said that he wants to score goals and play an important role for Borussia Dortmund after netting a brace against FC Köln on Saturday.

Sebastien Haller showed just how lethal he can be in front of goal on Saturday evening. After going eight games across all competitions without a goal, the Ivory Coast international scored a brace to help Borussia Dortmund earn an impressive 6-1 win over FC Köln in the Bundesliga.

“It feels great, of course,” Haller said after the game. “As a striker, I want to score goals and be important for the team. For me, it is nice just before the international break to see the body improve. The performances are also improving a bit. So I am just on the way.”

Haller came under a bit of criticism over the course of his goal drought, with some fans and analysts unhappy with his lack of involvement in Borussia Dortmund’s overall play. But he issued the perfect response on Saturday by scoring two crucial goals for his side.

The 28 year old only needed two shots to score his brace, and he showed great instinct with both of his goals. He was also heavily involved in the team’s attack, and helped set up Marco Reus’ second goal in the 70th minute.

It was a successful game for Sebastien Haller, who is still getting accustomed to professional football again after missing the first half of the season due to his testicular cancer diagnosis. The striker has made fantastic progress over the last few months, and the fact that he is back on the pitch and playing at the top level is a big achievement in itself.

Haller will now head to Ivory Coast for international duty, where he will look to build on this brace ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Bayern Munich.
