“I think the players and manager would be really disappointed if we don’t make it through. Prior to Friday, Steve Clarke hadn’t been saying ‘we are going to qualify’ but that is what he was speaking about. “I think because of how well the team has done in recent times, certainly in qualifying, they have to find a way of getting through.”
Clarke’s wounded camp now have to regroup and display character against Switzerland in Cologne on Wednesday before their fate is decided against Hungary in Stuttgart next Sunday. However, failure to beat the Swiss could potentially leave The Tartan Army with a mountain to climb as they look to repay the faith of the 200,000+ supporters that made the disastrous trip to Munich.
