Ross Wilson Rangers exit ‘best for all’ as Kris Boyd gives verdict on Nottingham Forest move for transfer chief
Kris Boyd has suggested Ross Wilson leaving Rangers to join Nottingham Forest would be a move to suit everyone because it’s unlikely he’ll win the fans over again.
The sporting director is reportedly the English club’s top target to take over a similar role at the City Ground after the sacking of Filippo Giraldi just six months into his time at the club. Rangers fans have been protesting against Wilson in recent months with supporters unimpressed with the transfer work at the club in particular.
Many fans feel that the same problem positions at Rangers have been an issue for years but are yet to be fixed under Wilson, although the January signings of Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell have given hope that things are improving but they’ve still been unable to overcome Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic in the two Old Firm games since.
And Boyd reckons that it might be the perfect time for Wilson to move on and change to happen at Ibrox ahead of a massive summer window for the club.
He told Sky Sports: “When that’s your role at the football club you’re always going to be judged on it. There’s been a lot of criticism and I’ve had my say on it as well.
“There’s no doubt the recruitment over the last few years hasn’t been good enough. There’s no getting away from it. Fans have had enough and you’ve seen them turn on Stewart Robertson and Ross Wilson.
“You don’t like to see it but they are the ones paying the money and turning up and they want better. Ross Wilson could have the opportunity to go to a massive football club in Nottingham Forest and you’d feel it would be too good to turn down.
