Ronald Araujo could be sold by Barcelona, but the price has to be right

There’s talk of a 45 million euro transfer

Ronald Araujo may leave FC Barcelona, even in this current transfer window. The latest rumors say Juventus FC are keen on the defender and the Catalans could be willing to sell.

The price has variously been reported to be between 45 and 50 million euro, to between 60 and 70 million euro.

There are reasons he could be bought at a relatively lower price. His contract expires next year, meaning Barça could lose him for free if they do not renew his contract or find a buyer. And he’s only recently come back from a major injury.

Still, 45 million would be way too low for a defender of his quality. Joško Gvardiol and Wesley Fofana, to give a few examples. were sold for a price between 70 and 80 million. Matthijs de Ligt was also bought by Bayern Munich for around that much, although the German club ended up selling him for closer to 50 million to Manchester United.
