Roma’s transfer plans shift as Dybala stays: De Rossi seeks reinforcements

August 23, 2024

Paulo Dybala’s decision to remain at Roma has altered the club’s transfer strategy, but manager Daniele De Rossi is still pushing for reinforcements as the August 30 deadline approaches. The Friedkin Group, Roma’s owners, are now tasked with strengthening the squad to align with De Rossi’s tactical vision.

Despite Dybala’s stay, the club is still in the market for a winger. Jeremie Boga of Nice remains the top target, valued at around €20 million. Alternatives include Pardo and Riquelme, while interest in Ngonge has been dismissed.

The midfield could see changes, especially if Edoardo Bove departs. Manu Koné of Borussia Mönchengladbach is a prime target, though Roma faces competition from AC Milan. The club is also monitoring Prati and Soumaré, with Leicester City potentially open to a loan deal for the latter.

Defensively, Roma needs to fill the void left by Kumbulla’s departure. Kevin Danso from Lens is emerging as a strong possibility, with sporting director Ghisolfi familiar with the Austrian from his time in France. Tiago Djalò is another option, with Juventus willing to consider a loan deal. Both players are reportedly open to joining Roma.

At right-back, Lorenz Assignon remains the primary target, with Abdulhamid as a backup option.
