Roma legend Francesco Totti hints at a return to football
Roma legend Francesco Totti has indicated towards returning to playing football.
Speaking in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Francesco Totti made it clear that he is training to feature in the EA World Legends Padel Tour. What first appeared to be a joke from the 48-year-old is now a concrete possibility as he said: “Will you see me first on the field for the World Legends Padel Tour finals or first on the field in Serie A? What a question. Let’s say I have time to do the Padel finals, they are at the end of November. At least two months of training are needed, that’s the time”.
Totti reinforced his intent to appear in the competition by talking about two offers he has received from the participating teams while reiterating that he will have to depend on his fitness before featuring. He said: “There are one or two teams. Let’s see what my head tells me, but above all my body. Let’s see how it reacts.”
Near the end of his words in the interview, Totti made an explosive comment about making a return to competitive football. Offers from undisclosed Serie A sides at the start of the new season have pushed him to consider but he made it clear that nothing will happen immediately as many things are to be taken into account. He said: “I admit that they [offers from the Serie A] have made me think a bit, a bit crazy. It would be difficult, but in life, you never say never. There are players who have played many years after the end of their career.”
