Rodrygo talks Modric, Vinicius, Florentino Perez, goal vs Man City after Real Madrid contract renewal

November 3, 2023

Real Madrid announced the renewal of Rodrygo Goes on Thursday as the club continue working towards securing the futures of its young stars.

The new deal runs until the summer of 2028 and includes a release clause speculated at €1 billion.

The young Brazilian spoke to the club media after the announcement of his renewal with the club and explored a number of topics including his fondest memories thus far. He began, however, by expressing his delight over the new contract, saying:

“I’m very happy. It’s a very special day for me. I am very happy to return to this room, as when I signed the first time, and do it now for my renewal.”

Rodrygo has always exhibited deep love and respect for the white colours, for it was always his dream to be a Real Madrid player.

Speaking about what it meant to be a Galactico, he said: “I always dreamed of playing here and, when you go in and start wearing this shirt, you really see its greatness. It can be said that Real Madrid is my life.”

“I would like everyone to go through a day like this because it is very special. You have to live it to know it,” he added.

The youngster was then asked about his favourite goal with the team so far, and his response was not surprising.

“My second goal against Manchester City in the semifinal of the Fourteenth. That moment will always be in my memory,” he said, reminiscing about the comeback he helped pioneer at the UCL.

Rodrygo then went on to express his gratitude to the team’s veterans, particularly Luka Modric, for motivating him through his lean patches and pushing him to grow.

“I will always be very grateful to Modrić, with whom I have a very good relationship. At a time when I wasn’t playing so much, he told me to keep working and training because my time was going to come.”

“After that, I got up and trained harder every day. Then my time came. I started playing, scoring goals, and being important to my team,” he added.

Determination and motivation are two critical characteristics required of a professional soccer player. The Brazilian protege, however, maintained that being a Real Madrid player in itself was the biggest motivating factor.

“I always come from home motivated and happy because I’m going to train and play with Real Madrid. That’s my biggest motivation.”

“I learned to never give up in any situation. I always go to the end, I learned that here, with this shirt,” he added, when asked what he learned at the biggest club in the world.
