Robert Lewandowski no longer ‘untouchable’ at Barcelona

December 25, 2023

The striker’s status has changed

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is reportedly no longer viewed as one of the team’s “untouchables” after struggling for form this season.

Diario Sport reckon “discontent” at the striker’s performances is growing at Barcelona and a summer transfer is no longer being ruled out.

Lewandowski enjoyed himself in his first season at Barca. He won La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup and finished the season with the Pichichi Trophy too.

Yet his scoring record has dropped ever since the World Cup in Qatar which has led to criticism from some quarters and speculation Xavi raged at him against Almeria.

Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi has said tersely “of course he is staying” when spotted in Barcelona this week but rumors about a move to Saudi Arabia keep floating around.

The report thinks there are “more and more voices” in favor of selling Lewandowski in the summer and even an claim that the club “have spoken with an Arab agent” to explore the possibility of a transfer.

There’s a suggestion Barcelona could get around €30 million for Lewandowski if he does move but may have to settle for €20m.
