Revealed: Messi In No Rush to Decide on Future Amid Barcelona Links
Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi will see his contract with the capital club expire in June. FC Barcelona wants to reunite with the player this summer, but their financial situation remains a significant hurdle.
Despite facing free agency next month, Mundo Deportivo reported on Tuesday that there’s no deadline for when Messi will decide where to play in the 2023-24 season.
The Spanish media outlet notes that the Argentine forward is attracted to the idea of being able to return to Barcelona. Still, for now, it is not something that the 35-year-old is considering.
La Liga has not validated the feasibility plan for the Catalan side, nor has Barcelona put an offer on the table for Messi’s camp to examine. Additionally, a recent report detailed many financial obstacles that could prohibit a possible return of the Argentine to Camp Nou this summer.
As for the possibility of remaining at PSG, the contract extension talks have stalled. However, the situation regarding the club’s direction has become a toxic conversation that wouldn’t be ideal for the Argentine to stay.
