Real Madrid top scorer to take over iconic No. 10 shirt after Club World Cup
May 27, 2025
The FIFA Club World Cup next month will be Xabi Alonso’s first challenge as Real Madrid’s new manager and his words during his presentation project serious changes at the club.
The manager is looking to impose a more controlled and attacking style of football at the club, something that indicates changes in the personnel involved on multiple levels.
One clear change that will come about after the upcoming tournament will be the departure of Luka Modric.
The Croatian star has served as Real Madrid’s most reliable midfielder for over a decade and his departure comes as a huge development in the club’s trajectory. With it, however, the No. 10 shirt in the dressing room becomes vacant as well.
