Real Madrid offered chance to sign former Barcelona player

August 2, 2023

Real Madrid and Barcelona are expected to compete for the La Liga title once again this season. Los Blancos will surely be keen to improve, after failing to defend the league last time around as Xavi’s side ended up winning quite comfortably. The 3-0 loss at the hands of the Catalan giants in pre-season will not help Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Real Madrid have been quite active in the summer transfer window this time around. They have brought in four fresh faces, three on a permanent basis and one on a season-long loan. And it looks like they have been offered the chance to sign a former Barcelona wonderkid as well.

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Ilaix Moriba does not have a future at RB Leipzig and the German team have offered the youngster to several clubs. Real Madrid will also have the opportunity to sign him, but a move this summer seems unlikely.

Moriba has a lot of potential without a doubt. But Real Madrid are stacked in the middle of the park right now and don’t need to make another addition there.

Moriba was considered as the next big thing at Barcelona while coming through the ranks and then, he made a bright start to life in the senior team as well. He would end up leaving for RB Leipzig soon and it has proven to be a misstep for the youngster.

While the likes of Pedri and Gavi have gone on to become household names, Moriba has been lost in the shuffle. A move back to Spain looks likely for him but not to a club like Real Madrid.

Let’s see what the future holds for Moriba. At the same time, fans will be hoping that Real Madrid a few more additions this summer, but not in the middle of the park.
