Real Madrid and Brazil icon says Vinicius was unfairly overlooked for the Ballon d’Or

The debate over who truly deserved the 2024 Ballon d’Or has sparked significant attention, especially following Rodri’s win.

Many fans and experts, including Brazil and Real Madrid legend Ronaldo Nazario, have expressed their belief that Vinicius Jr. should have been awarded the prestigious honour instead.

Ronaldo, reflecting on the results, made it clear that while he respects Rodri’s achievements, Vinicius should have been the recipient.

“Without taking anything away from Rodri, Vinicius should have won the Ballon d’Or, who has missed a great opportunity to crown Vinicius as the best in the world,” he told MARCA.

According to Ronaldo, Vinicius was far more decisive in the previous season, making a bigger impact for his club.

Despite acknowledging Rodri’s contributions, Ronaldo believes that Vinicius was crucial to Real Madrid’s success and deserved the title.

“It has nothing to do with Rodri, let’s be clear, but Vinicius has been much more decisive during last season,” he added.
