PSV in Rangers Champions League boost as Barcelona defender signs and could make Ibrox debut
The Dutch giants have bolstered their squad ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Ibrox by signing Sergino Dest on a season-long loan
PSV have bolstered their squad ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Rangers by completing the signing of Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest on a season-long loan.
And the USA international could be in line for a quick-fire debut at Ibrox. PSV warmed up for their visit to Glasgow with a 3-1 comeback win at Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday and have now finalised a deal to sign ex-Ajax defender Dest on loan with the option to buy.
The 22-year-old could be involved in Tuesday night’s Champions League play-off first leg in Glasgow, as UEFA allows up to two new players to be registered to the already submitted squad for the ties if added by midnight tonight. Former Gers loanee Malik Tillman – who was an unused sub at the weekend – is also expected to be added to the pool.
Speaking after completing his move, Dest said: “PSV were in touch with me every day and expressed a keen desire to get me on board, which was a good feeling. And on top of that, I like the style of football they play at PSV. I think it suits me very well.
“I return to the Netherlands. I’m still the same player but I’ve gained a lot of experience and I’ve hopefully acquired a higher efficiency. I can’t wait to make my debut.”
Dest spent last season on loan with Italian giants AC Milan, but managed just eight appearances.
