PSG Foils Contract Extension Plans for This Bayern Munich Defender
Bayern Munich center-back Lucas Hernández could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain. The 27-year-old’s contract with the German giants expires in 2024 and it appears the capital club is ready to spoil any extension plans.
Foot Mercato reported on Wednesday that Hernandez was about to put his signature on the bottom of a new lease binding him to Bayern until 2027. However, the France international froze everything.
The reason? The interest of PSG. The French giants have presented its project to the Bavarian defender and negotiations have accelerated in recent hours.
Furthermore, the French media outlet notes that Hernandez is very receptive and interested in joining the soon-to-be 2022-23 Ligue 1 champions.
Between an aging Sergio Ramos, whose contract expires on June 30, and a Presnel Kimpembe in full reflection on his future, while also coming off a severe Achilles injury that will prevent him from being ready for the start of the 2023-24 season, Paris must strengthen its center-back position.
If Hernandez wants to go to PSG, Bayern Munich will have to decide to talk with the capital club about a deal or hold onto the player and allow him to leave as a free agent next year.
Transfermarkt puts Hernandez’s transfer value at €50 million. Nonetheless, the defender is coming off a Cruciate Ligament Rupture, but it seems PSG is comfortable pursuing the player despite the injury.
