Probable Formations: Union Saint-Gilloise vs Roma
Jurić will have limited options in defense for Roma’s trip to Belgium, meaning the seldom-seen Mats Hummels could get some run on Thursday.
With Ivan Jurić surviving on borrowed time at this point, the Croatian will be desperate to see his Roma side take all three points back from Belgium on Thursday. If he doesn’t, Jurić will almost certainly be a dead man walking heading into Sunday’s match against Bologna—the last before the international break.
Unfortunately for Jurić he’ll have to build his starting XI without one of his most reliable performers, Evan Ndicka. The Ivorian had to stay behind in Rome due to illness. And to further complicate things in defense, Mario Hermoso is also unavailable. That means that Mats Hummels and Gianluca Mancini will likely be joined in the back three by Angeliño.
After the poor performance on the weekend by Nicola Zalewski, Stephan El Shaarawy should get the nod on the left wing. Playing opposite him will be Zeki Çelik. In the center of the midfield is where we could see a change, as Bryan Cristante is expected to join Manu Koné—replacing Enzo Lé Feé.
In the attack, there could be space for youngsters Matías Soulé and Niccoló Pisilli in support of Artem Dovbyk.
ROMA (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Angeliño; Çelik, Cristante, Koné, El Shaarawy; Soulé, Pisilli; Dovbyk.
