Player ratings: FC Barcelona 4 – 1 Bayern Munich

October 24, 2024

Champions League fireworks, indeed.

FC Barcelona exorcised its Bayern Munich demons in some style with a 4-1 Champions League dismantling of the German giants on Wednesday.

In very un-Barça-like fashion, the Bavarian visitors were gifted the lion’s share of possession and both teams had similar shots, chances, even expected goals. But it all added up to a lopsided scoreline in a match that had no shortage of storylines.

For former Bayern coach Hansi Flick, it is a famous win over his former club and vindication to his critics — as after a troubled tenure with the German men’s national team, doubts persisted about his ability to still manage at a high level. For Bayern, on the other hand, coaches, players, and execs will now be open to an avalanche of criticism for a defeat that was nothing less than comprehensive.

German outlets Bild and kicker were unsparing in their assessments of the Bayern squad. Have your own say and vote below the jump!
