Official: Bayern Munich sign their very first youngster from the FC Bayern World Squad

Bayern’s Global Academy has its’ first success and has coach Roy Makaay’s stamp of approval.
In 2021, Bayern Munich launched FC Bayern World Squad project, which would see countless aspiring professional players send clips of their highlights to Bayern, be evaluated before a small, select U19 group would be chosen each year to go on a multi week training camp with some of Bayern’s staff and former notable Bavarian players and play for a professional contract at either Bayern or another club.
Diego Contento and Roy Makaay were the two headline coaches this year, who formed part of a group that would evaluate the players and if they could represent Bayern. In the previous 3 editions of the FC Bayern World Squad, none of the players could earn a contract to stay in Munich. But this year, the coaching staff was completely convinced by the talent of the youngest player in the group, one of the players who was selected from a Bayern partner.
And so 16-year-old Maycon Douglas Cardozo signs through 2027 for Bayern’s U-17s via a recent official announcement from the club, joining from Sport Thai-Bavaria Football Academy (STB) in Thailand, an FC Bayern Youth Football Partner since 2015.
