October & November Decisive For Inter Milan Winning Serie A Title Last Season – Will It Be The Same This Time?
Inter Milan will be hoping that October and November are decisive months for them in Serie A once again this season.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Last season, Inter found themselves second in the Serie A table heading into the October international break.
The Nerazzurri were two points behind city rivals AC Milan after seven matches played – despite having beaten the Rossoneri 5-1 in the derby early on in the season.
Therefore, Inter had yet to really establish their place at the top of the table.
But it was upon returning from the international break that Inter really built the foundations of their title charge.
The Nerazzurri got four wins from four against Torino, Roma, Atalanta, and Frosinone. Milan, by contrast, failed to win four matches in a row.
Therefore, the Rossoneri fell behind and Inter rocketed to the top of the table.
By December it was Juventus who were Inter’s main rivals for the title. However, by February the Bianconeri were experiencing a collapse of their own which allowed Inter to take control.
Inter Hoping For Another Decisive October & November In Serie A
This season, Inter once again find themselves second in the table in mid-October.
And once again, it is a margin of two points separating the Nerazzurri from the team at the top of the table.
This time around, Napoli are the league leaders.
Inter face the likes of Roma, Juventus, Empoli, Venezia, and Napoli between now and the next international break.
The fact that Inter face the Bianconeri and the Partenopei gives this sequence of fixtures the air of a potentially decisive one in the Serie A title race.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri will be hoping that this season mirrors the last one in terms of form.
Finding another gear in October will hardly be enough on its own for Inter to repeat last season’s title.
