Newcastle United rocked by THREE new injury blows but Yoane Wissa gets good news

November 28, 2025

Newcastle United have been rocked by an injury to Kieran Trippier – with the former England full-back’s hamstring injury worse than first feared.

Trippier missed the 2-1 win over Manchester City last weekend and was left at home for the defeat in France on Tuesday. But he could now be facing a longer layoff after further assessment.

There was better news for Yoane Wissa, although the DR Congo international is not going to make the squad for the trip to Everton.

Wissa has trained with the team in the build-up to the Merseyside encounter but Eddie Howe is taking extra caution with the £55m after his knee injury back in September.

But Newcastle are also set to be without Sven Botman for the next game after a fresh problem emerged.

Howe, speaking at his Press conference this morning, said: “He had a scan on his hamstring, and we think it is roughly about a month give or take, that is the diagnosis.

“Emil Krafth came back from international duty with a knee issue, I don’t think it is serious, this game is probably too soon.”

Howe went on to speak about the injury to Dutchman Botman and said: “Nothing major from the game. Sven Botman has been nursing a back problem the last few days.”

Howe said: “Yoane is doing well. He trained with his for the first time on Wednesday.

“I was really pleased that is his first time competitively. We will see how it looks.

“We have one (a comeback) date in mind, but it is probably best to keep it to ourselves.”

The game against Everton gives Howe the chance to improve on Newcastle’s woeful away record with no wins on the board in the Premier League so far.
