New Lazio Signing Pellegrini: ‘I’ve Joined the Team of My Heart’

February 1, 2023

Luca Pellegrini was overjoyed to have signed for Lazio on a six-month loan deal, finding it difficult to explain his emotions.

The 23-year-old Italian left back has joined the Biancocelesti on loan with a buy option attached, adding an important reinforcement to Maurizio Sarri’s squad. Pellegrini spent the first half of this season on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he made 14 appearances across all competitions.

Speaking to Lazio Style Channel soon after his arrival in Rome, Pellegrini explained how it felt to put pen to paper on his Lazio contract.

It’s an exciting evening, it’s difficult to find the right words. I’m so happy to be back home. It’s an emotion that’s hard to explain, I’ve arrived at the team of my heart.

I’ve never felt anything like this in my life.

Born in the Italian capital, Pellegrini started his career in Roma’s youth system before joining Juventus for €22m in July 2019. He spent time on loan with Cagliari and Genoa, where he impressed, before returning to Turin for a single season.

The Italian left back will be hoping to prove his abilities in Rome and earn a permanent move, giving him the chance to find stability after a difficult few years.
