NASSER AL-KHELAIFI SENDS APOLOGY TO LAPORTA AS ABSENCE FOR PSG-BARCELONA MEETING EXPLAINED

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has passed a message of apology on to Barcelona counterpart Joan Laporta, and the rest of the club’s board.

As much comes after the Qatari was a notable absentee from the sit-down meeting between the respective teams of directors at the French and Spanish giants on Tuesday.

PSG and Barca are of course primed to lock horns on the continent later today, in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.

In the buildup to the clash, the two boards therefore made use of the opportunity to meet up, to talk over what no doubt came as a whole host of topics.

The gathering in question was held at the Onor restaurant in Paris.

On the Barcelona side of things, Joan Laporta, Rafa Yuste, Elena Fort, Juli Guiu and a number of further directors were all present.

However, as alluded to above, one altogether noteworthy absentee from the PSG congregation came in the form of president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

As much, though, it has since been revealed, came for an understandable reason.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Al-Khelaifi was celebrating Aïd al Fitr, the holiday concluding the Islamic tradition of Ramadan.

The PSG chief, it is added, was nevertheless sure to send a message of apology to the Barcelona board of directors.
