Mystery remains over Real Madrid defender’s return after four months out injured

According to a report from AS, Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy’s comeback continues to remain uncertain, more than four months after his last appearance.
Mendy has been a divisive figure within the club, and the signing of Alvaro Carreras has added pressure on him.
To regain his place in the squad, Mendy will need to perform at his very best, competing not only with Carreras but also with Fran Garcia, who currently sits ahead in the pecking order.
Mendy’s injury record has not helped his cause. His last match for Real Madrid was the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, after which he suffered a tear of the proximal rectus femoris tendon in his right quadriceps.
The injury required surgery, with initial estimates suggesting a recovery period of two to two-and-a-half months.
However, over four months have passed, and Mendy has yet to return to full training with the squad.
