Milan working to keep forward duo plus two deals from the Premier League

April 27, 2023

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are at work to fine tune the squad ahead of next season and there are currently four operations in the pipeline.

That is according to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning, who write that Milan have a very clear goal in mind: to keep both Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz. Qualification for the next Champions League will also make a big difference in this sense.

Rafael Leao: The negotiations for the renewal of the Portuguese winger dominate the headlines as always. Sporting are continuing to ask for €45m in compensation while FIFA have approved a sum of €16.5m. The story will return to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, all while Leao pays 20% of his current salary towards the fine.

Brahim Diaz: On the Brahim front, much will depend on Real Madrid’s will. Los Blancos could decide to recall the Spaniard to include him in the squad or could also look to sell him for a capital gain, with an asking price starting at €25m.

Kyle Walker: The Manchester City defender has been offered to Milan, despite being a leader of the dressing room for the Premier League leaders. He is 32 years old, is playing less than he did earlier in the season and his contract expires in 2024.

He could be a profile with proven experience even if he doesn’t meet all the standards that Milan has been trying to follow on the market in recent seasons, with regards to the age and salary of signings.

Naby Keta: The Liverpool midfielder has very few appearances this season and now seems to be firmly out of Jurgen Klopp’s plans. The 28-year-old Guinea international will be available on a free the end of the season and could be tempted by the idea of joining the Rossoneri, but he remains a hypothesis for now.
